Q & A with Steve Kilguss, Emdeon's New Vice President of Product Management for Health System, Hospital and Large Physician Practice Solutions



Emdeon is pleased to announce that Steve Kilguss is now the Vice President of Product Management at Emdeon. He has 25+ years of Healthcare IT experience and has held a number of senior leadership positions working with hospitals, health systems and physician practices across the country. Steve brings with him many years of knowledge derived from leading business units tasked with developing and implementing web-based and client server applications in patient billing, appointment scheduling, EDI/revenue cycle management services and electronic health record capabilities for practice management and hospital clients.

Here’s a quick Q & A with Steve to find out what he is looking to accomplish in his new position at Emdeon.

What are the biggest challenges facing hospitals and health systems today that Emdeon solutions can help to simplify?
Emdeon can help hospitals overcome their challenges with patient financial workflows and receiving timely payments while reducing overall costs to our clients.

What are your goals for Product Management at Emdeon?
My goals are to bring all solutions together for a seamless, single look and feel as well as to incorporate services as an option throughout the revenue cycle to benefit our health system, hospital and large physician practice clients.

What are some experiences from previous positions that you will be able to draw upon in your new role?
I have experience bringing together different teams such as Product Management, Product Development, Service and Support to provide a single flow of products and services for our clients to utilize. When acquiring so many valuable companies, integrating them as quickly and smoothly as possible is important for success.

What are some upcoming enhancements to existing solutions that you see on the horizon?
I am looking forward to improved integration for our Patient Access Management Solutions. Also, continuing to integrate and optimize our solutions for seamless operation is important to us. Down the road, we are also evaluating adding business intelligence and analytics around our solutions to assist our clients in better understanding their healthcare business and where it is going.

What are the key differentiators that Emdeon can provide the industry from a Product Management standpoint?
The number of Government and Commercial payers that we are connected to is superior in the industry. Also, the level of claim detail that we can drill into leveraging this connectivity to help our clients is unmatched.

Our customers play a big role in Product Development. How do you plan on engaging with our customers in this process?
We will be engaging our customers with opportunities for pilots, betas and advisory boards. We will continue to expand upon involving our customers in Product Development to enable us to stay engaged with where the market is going.
